Its A New Game Day At Reser
We have discussed that every Oregon State Game Day is different this year in so many ways, some good, some not so good, and all unlike anything anyone has ever seen before. Today, the home opener at Reser, is one in a really good day. Not that every Game Day isn't a really good day, but this one is the latest of a number of grand reopenings of a new renovation at Parker/Reser. The rebuild of the southwest side, the oldest part of the stadium, and the only remaing part from when it was still Parker, is an exciting step forward into an uncertain futere.
A step many menbers have eagerly anticipated for a couple of decades now. And better seats, better concessions, a better press box, more bathrooms and elevators, and a MUCH better looking exterior are finally here. Some have had an early look, but for many Beavers this will be the first look. And it will be the first look for anyone with an actual game being played.
And the Beavers, based on what we saw in San Jose, are looking as good as their new and improved digs. The new QB was great. The mostly old o-line might have been even better. That's a good combination. So is a rebuilding defense that appears to be ahead of schedule, and a running game that's still right on schedule.
Add an opponent, Cal-Davis, that's decent enough to prompt progress from the Beavers, but not one that should derail OSU. After all, our land-grant brothers, and vet school brothers, are still a Big Sky, FCS foe. One that Oregon State actually has some ancient history with, so the reacquaintance with the Aggies will be another positive aspect to the evening's adventure.
The weather gods also granted the Beavers a perfect late summer/early aumumn efternoon and evening. The tv gods have granted a time slot that won't be too late, and will allow for plenty of tailgating.
It all translates into a sell out crowd. And what should be a party-like atmosphere for Game Evening!
Now lets make sure the actual focus and effort level and execution (by everyone) actually lives up to it!
Go Beaves!
